Introducing
DJ MC: The All Star 8.5...
DJ MC started with Hip-Hop in 1993 during high school. It
was at this time he got into graffiti heavy and began writing
rhymes with his cousin from New York.
By 1995 he was rapping with his cousin and working with producers
Mike City and Ski Beats, just to name a couple. He arrived
at NC State University that year and became an on air personality;
in 3 years he made the transformation from an emcee to a DJ.
For the next two years he practiced and observed his teachers
in action. Then with one of the highest rated college mix shows
in North Carolina he began his siege of the college party scene.
By 2001, DJ MC had totally taken over the North
Carolina College scene. He was now Djing major parties across
NC including UNC’s
GreekFreak which is the largest Step show and after party in
the Southeast. He was also at the time the Assistant Regional
Marketing Director for Elektra Records in NC working under
Voodo Sheldon (NC) and Courtney Powell (NY Main Office). With
this title he began making contacts and moves towards spreading
out of NC. It landed him on a promo tour with ICONZ and DJing
a summer at New York’s famous Club NV. 2001 was also
the birth of The Untouchables; a DJ team consisting of DJ MC
(NC), DJ Skillz (SC), DJ Flash (OH), DJ Exetera (SC), and DJ
Paradigm (NC).
The next few years would be spent fine-tuning
his craft and traveling over the east cost building his reputation
as an
Untouchable. During this time he was personally involved in
the recording and production of Grammy nominated album “The
Listening” by Little Brother. Rooming with producer 9th
Wonder and accruing management has now entered DJ MC into the
mix tape game. DJ MC is currently working on projects with
9th Wonder, DJ Folk, and DJ Drama (T.I.’s DJ).
